This Policy applies to our collection, use and disclosure of personal information about Kin Valley members 13 years of age and older. About Us
For the purpose of this privacy policy, the use of “KinValley.com,” “KinValley,” “we,” or “our” includes any social networking service, website, platform, or application developed or managed by KinValley.com, Inc.
We offer members the ability to participate in social networking activities with their extended families including the following:
- Photo Sharing
- Instant Messaging
- Game Playing
- Blogging
- Content Sharing
While the Site is intended for parents, children and other family members alike, it is intended to be used by children under the age of 13 only with significant parental involvement and approval. Children under the age of 13 are not allowed to subscribe to, create an account with, or otherwise use the Site, without a parent’s permission.
Information We Collect From You
Through the account registration and profile set up processes, as well as through your participation in activities at the Site, we may collect the following types of information from members:
Account Set-up. When you create an account, we may collect your contact information, such as your first and last name, email address, mailing address and contact telephone numbers. We will also ask you to select a username and password for your account.
Other Profile Information. As you set up your Kin Valley profile, we may ask for additional demographic or background information from you, such as your age or date of birth, your nickname, your hometown, the names of your family members, the names of the schools and colleges that you have attended or currently attend, and other similar types of information.
User Preferences and Wish Lists. We may also ask for information relating to your preferences about topics such as your gift “Wish Lists.” This information is optional; you do not have to provide us with this information to set up your account.
Information about Family Members. You may also add other Kin Valley members to your network by designating them as family members or friends. When you do so, other members within your network will be able to see this information.
Credit Card Verification. A parent may create an account for his or her child at the Site. If the child is under the age of 13, we must obtain verifiable parental consent to the collection and use of that child’s information. One of the ways we may obtain verifiable parental consent is by processing a credit card transaction in the parent’s name. In order to do this, we will collect the information necessary to process the credit card transaction, such as parent’s name, account number, expiration date and billing address, and we will charge the card a nominal fee to cover the cost of the transaction. This is a one-time charge.
Site Activities. We will also collect information about your activities on the Site, such as the length of time you are logged in to the site, the pages you visit, and the activities you engage in at the site. This information is associated with your Kin Valley username and may be combined with the personally identifiable information we collect from you.
Other Non-Personally Identifiable Information. We may also collect certain non-personally identifiable information from all visitors to our site, such as IP address, the date and time of visit, the type of browser used (e.g., Firefox, Internet Explorer), the type of operating system used (e.g., Windows XP or Mac OS), the ISP from which the visitor receives Internet access, and aggregate information regarding what pages users of the site access or visit. This information is also associated with your KinValley username and may be combined with the personally identifiable information we collect from you.
Tracking Your Activities on the Site
When you are logged into your account, we track your activities within the Site. For example, we track the pages you visit, the length of time you spend logged in, the information you submit about your preferences or Wish Lists, and the comments you post on other members pages. This information is associated with your Kin Valley username and may be combined with the personally identifiable information we collect from you. We may use some of the information we collect about you to display to you targeted advertising and other content that we think may interest you.
We partner with third parties to provide content and/or to display targeted advertisements. We will not share your personally identifiable information with these third parties. However, some of these third parties may use tracking technologies, such as cookies and Web beacons, on our Site in order to track user activity. We do not exercise control over or have access to these tracking technologies or the information practices of these parties, which are subject to the privacy policies of these third parties.
How We Use the Information We Collect From You
We may use the personally identifiable information that we collect from you to provide an interactive online experience, to send you newsletters and other communications, to provide content that we believe you may be interested in, and to display targeted advertising to you.
In addition, we may use other information, such as information about the pages visited by you and other members, to improve the design, content and performance of our site, or to analyze site usage and the popularity of certain pages of the Site.
As noted above, we may associate the non-personally identifiable information we collect from you (such as pages visited) with the personally identifiable information (such as the member’s name and age or other account information) in our database. Such combined information is kept in our internal database under your username.
With Whom We Share the Information We Collect From You
We will not sell, rent or trade your personal information. We may disclose the personal information we obtain from you to our affiliates; however, if we do so the affiliate’s use and disclosure of the personal information will be subject to restrictions at least as strict as those contained in this Policy. We may also disclose such information to our third party vendors, who may generate content, provide customer service or billing services, process parental consents, and/or monitor or manage interactive features available on our website – These third parties have agreed to maintain the confidentiality, security and integrity of personal information, and the information is not shared with any of these third parties for their own marketing purposes.
In addition your profile information, such as name and age, and other information you post to the Site is shared with your approved network of relatives and friends. You can control the type of information you share by logging into your account and adjusting your Privacy Settings.
We may also disclose personally identifiable and non-personally identifiable information in response to legal process – for example, in response to a court order or a subpoena. We may also disclose such information where we believe it is necessary to investigate, prevent, or take action regarding illegal activities, suspected fraud, situations involving potential threats to the safety of any person, violations of our Terms or this Policy, or as otherwise required by law. In addition, we may transfer personally identifiable information if we are acquired by or merged with another company or as part of a bankruptcy proceeding.
Aggregate and Anonymized Information
We may share aggregate or anonymized information about you with unaffiliated third parties for marketing, advertising or research purposes. For example, we may share demographic information about members with our marketing partners and third party advertisers in order to determine what targeted advertising content to display to members. However, we will not share your personally identifiable information with these third parties.

At times, our website may contain links to other third party websites. Any access to and use of such linked websites is not governed by this Policy but, instead, is governed by the privacy policies of those third party websites. Please note that such third party websites may collect information from you when you visit their websites. We are not responsible for the information practices of such third party websites.
Data Security
We have implemented commercially reasonable safeguards to protect personal information that we collect and store, including credit card information. Despite these precautions, however, no data security safeguards are foolproof. Identity thieves, hackers and other unauthorized individuals may find ways to obtain personally idenitifiabl information or to access the Site. Please keep in mind that we cannot and do not guarantee that content posted at the Site will not be viewed by unauthorized persons. Any content that you post is at your own risk.

You can control the amount of information that other KinValley members, including those within your network, can see about you.
Your Account Information
If you wish to view, delete or modify the information we have collected from, you may do this by logging in to your account at any time and changing your account settings. However, please understand that, even after removal, member content may remain viewable in cached and archived pages or by others if a member has copied or stored such content.
Changes to this Privacy Policy
We reserve the right to amend this policy at any time. Please check this page periodically for changes. We will post a notice on this website if and when this policy changes to alert visitors that a new policy is in place. If we intend to use or disclose your personal information in a manner materially different from that stated at the time of collection we will notify you via email and obtain your consent to such changes.
